AFTFC is an online and grassroots awareness campaign for legislative reform and the formal professionalisation of social work in Nigeria.
OPSWI champions youth-led development frameworks on the continental stage. At the International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW) Africa Regional Conference, we presented our youth-centric crisis response models, contributing directly to the launch of the Young Africa Social Workers Network (YASWN).
Wetin Bi Social Work (Nigerian Pidgin for “What is social work?”) is OPSWI’s annual street outreach and the programme through which the organisation was launched in July 2024. Our teams take the profession directly to the public, visiting streets, markets and car parks explaining what social workers do, answering questions and showing communities where to find support.
This campaign challenges the use of excessive corporal punishment and equips families with healthier alternatives. It shows how severe physical punishment can fuel child abuse, trauma and low self-esteem, and introduces social work approaches to child counselling and positive family systems. The campaign has reached audiences across Edo State through live broadcasts, including the Daybreak programme on the Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS).
